Round Lake CCC Camp

Hike Round Lake CCC Camp

  • Trail Length: 1/10 mile
  • Trail Notes: This trail is level and easy to walk. Loose gravel impedes wheelchair use. Improvements to the surface are planned.
  • Trail Location: The trailhead is ¼ mile north of U.S. Highway 2 on Brevoort Lake road near St. Ignace. Park in the Sand Dunes Ski Trailhead lot and follow the signs.

Located in a grassy clearing, interpretive panels show what the camp buildings looked like and describe everyday life there. Visible features include old foundations and the newly replaced flag pole. Photographs on the panels and quotations from CCC veterans make Camp Round Lake the Great Depression, and the C.C.C. come alive for visitors.
