Bergland to Sidnaw Rail Trail

Trail Distance:
43.5 Miles
Trail Description:
In 2001, while on an inspection visit to the third Firesteel Bridge, engineers looked at some of the bridges on the Bergland to Sidnaw Rail Trail. This 43.5-mile trail, which opened in 1991, is used by more than 25,000 snowmobiles each year. The DNR estimates it could cost as much as $1 million to replace the decks and railings on five bridges, extending a total 1,689 feet, that cross the east, middle and south branches of the Ontonagon River; the Jumbo River and the Baltimore River.
