Mackinac/Mackinaw Island Straits
Crossings are what draw the kayakers to the Straits of Mackinac. Crossings are particularly difficult if the weather is benign, but there's a lot of pleasure boat traffic, ferry traffic, and ship traffic through the area. Paddle around Mackinac Island is also popular with kayakers. The water temperature in the upper Great Lakes is not particularly warm at the best of times, please be prepared and use caution.
